Library Policies & Politics
This space will be growing soon, I hope, but I do have a few important links to share in the beginning stages of this page of the website. Please go to the CONTACT ME! page of the website to send/recommend more Politics & Policies websites for me to peruse and use.
ALA--Advocacy, Legislation & Issues--ALA's advocacy home has links to many important library topics, such as Access, Copyright, Professional Ethics, Privacy & Surveillance, and School Library Legislation. There is so much to know and be aware of. Don't be overwhelmed! Set a goal to explore a topic/week.
ALA--Banned & Challenged Books--This ALA page has links to Banned Books Week, Office of Intellectual Freedom, and Lists of Frequently Challenged Books. Think of this as your gateway to banned books.
Library Mission Statements, Action Plans, Action Research, and Annual Reports--You're going to have to write them, and you might not know where to start. I didn't get much practice in the skill of writing important library papers in my course work (only wrote a mission statement once in one of my classes), so I will be relying on this resource guide a lot over my first couple of years as a school librarian.
